Bringing Revival to Kyaka II refugee camps

Hope In The Settlement It started in 2022 during the covid pandemic. My missionary friends decided to do some evangelistic outreaches to Pakistan. They raised money to set up large screens and stages for virtual meetings. I later connected them with my friends in Uganda (Pastor Felix Nishimiyamana) and we did two large crusades in the Kyaka II refugee settlement. I was one of the preachers. The last event reached 10,000 people.

In December 2025 I started doing Telegram meetings with Pastor Gatore Herve and his Church to follow up with the meetings at the settlement. I teach about revival and strategy to reach the rest of the 120,000 people living there. We have a group of native evangelists reaching out to the other zones with the Good News. We do biblical feasts as well (Luke 14:12-14) and provide various relief items. Our long term goal is to make disciples plant Churches and assist with some self development projects. Wikipedia Background Kyaka II refugee settlement was established in 2003 to receive the remaining population of Kyaka following the mass repatriation of Rwandan refugees the same year. After this movement, Kyaka I was closed. Around mid-December 2017, renewed violence in DRC - Democratic Republic of Congo led to a new refugee influx into Uganda, with an estimated 17,000 new refugee arrivals in Kyaka II.

Since December 2016, Kyaka II's refugee population has quadrupled, following the arrival of tens of thousands of refugees from DRC fleeing conflict and inter-ethnic violence in North Kivu and Ituri. As of June 2026, there are 135,547 refugees already living in the settlement. Kyaka II is managed by the UNHCR and the Ugandan Office of the Prime Minister's Department of Refugees (OPM). Kyaka II also receives a lot of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, such as the group of people called Ba Gegere Bahema, arrived in 2002-2008. There is another flux of refugees from the region of Bunia.

Geography Kyaka II encompasses 81.5 square kilometres in the three sub counties of Mpara, Kyegegwa and Kabweza in the eponymous Kyaka county. The settlement is divided into nine zones: Sweswe, Buliti, Bukere, Mukondo, Itambabiniga, Kakoni, Bwiriza, Byabakora and Kaborogota.

Our Goals: Develop ongoing disciple making movements to bring in a harvest of souls. Provide food and bibles in their native languages to attract more people to hear the Gospel. We recently purchased a portable loudspeaker for public preaching. Long term goals would be development projects such as businesses, farming etc to accelerate the growth of the kingdom of God.
